October 12 and October 14

The 18th Annual New Hampshire Film Festival proudly invites you to “Crossroads” a Lacrosse Documentary by Emmy Award-Winner Robert Yassen.  An extraordinary documentary of an unlikely championship lacrosse team from Charlotte, NC made In partnership with ESPN FILMS.

The trailer is available here: https://www.tribecafilm.com/filmguide/crossroads-2018

The NH Film Festival is held in Portsmouth, NH over the weekend of October 11th - 14th and is made up of over 100 films and dozens of events including workshops, panels, after-parties, VIP brunch and daytime parties.  The Festival is held in venues throughout Portsmouth including The Music Hall where both “Crossroads” screenings will be held.

As Executive Director of the NH Film Festival this is a rare moment where my professional passion and my family’s passion collide.  And I wanted to make these screenings as accessible as possible to our extended lacrosse family and the lacrosse clubs of NH and beyond, so we have included a link to discounted tickets for anyone interested in sharing in this experience.

Knowing that so many of our lacrosse players, coaches and parents will be attending various sporting events over the weekend, we are screening it twice.  Both screenings will have filmmakers and team members from Charlotte Secondary (the school from the documentary) in attendance doing live Q&A immediately following. We’d love to have you at either screening but if you have the luxury of choosing… the Sunday screening will be more celebrated.

We want as many local lacrosse players, coaches, parents and fans in attendance to see this amazing story.

CROSSROADS

Synopsis: Charlotte Secondary, a small charter school in North Carolina, serves teenagers with learning disabilities and emotional problems, many who come from impoverished backgrounds. With a scarcity of funds, the school cannot afford a gym or a proper sports field, so creating an athletic program is no easy task.  The school’s fortunes change when athletic director Teddy Walker secures a small grant to fund a lacrosse team and Bobby Selkin, whose daughter attends the school, volunteers to become its head coach.   Working day and night, Coach Selkin teaches his players a sport they had never played before, taking them all the way to the state championships. When Mr. Walker is diagnosed with pancreatic cancer, the team rallies around him to reach even greater heights, on and off field.
